NVIDIA's check is proof that Ilya has been building something unique
IN THE STATEMENT announcing its $5 billion investment in Safe Superintelligence on Monday, Nvidia gave its reason for the deal. The partnership, the chipmaker said, followed rare access into the lab's closely guarded research. Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI's former chief scientist and Safe Superintelligence's founder, put it more plainly: the lab now has research worth scaling, and a big Nvidia computer will let it do so.
That sequence is the signal.
